What happens when you come to see us?
First I will talk with you and your parents to find out the things that you are good at and find easy, and also the things that are really hard for you. I will also find out what things you would like to be able to do that you find tricky at the moment.
"Thank you Julia for helping me, I am so happy I can now ride my bike"
8 year old boy
When you come to see me for the first time we will play some games and also do some activities and exercises (similar to things you might do in PE at school). Most children find some of the things easy and some things are a bit more tricky.
You will never have to do anything that you don’t want to do when you see me.
I may come into your school and watch you in class or in a PE lesson if you are happy for me to do that.
If you are finding some activities in school more difficult to do than the other children in your class, I can talk to your teacher, if you would like me to, so that she/he understands and can help make things easier for you at school.
If you see me more often you will work towards getting badges and certificates which you can take into school and show your teacher and friends. When you try really hard or are a ‘special’ star you will collect a ‘star’ badge like this one.
My name is Julia and I am a physio who only works with children like you.
I work with lots of different children who find different things tricky. I see children of all different ages from babies to teenagers.
As well as being a physio I am also a mum and have 3 grown up children and 5 grandchildren.
